I like that philosophy. Not overly aggressive but also not overly passive. Good technique!


This concept is critical in children. It shows respect for the players and in return they will respect you so much more. I love the point about pulling aside to correct but praising publicly. That is huge! when kids are humiliated in front of their peers they begin to shut down. Being praised alone is great, but being praised in front of their peers means so much more and then the other kids can know how great that player was and can either praise him as well, or strive to be more like that player so they can be praised too. Genius! I like your style Rod. I hope my kids have a coach as good as you!
